Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba stated that the main condition for the potential deployment of a peacekeeping mission in Ukraine is that it must not freeze the conflict and fix the current positions of the sides.

As reported by Evropeyskaya Pravdà, he said this at a meeting with the media in Poland.

Kuleba explained that Ukraine needs to have a variety of solutions for all possible scenarios.

"Of course, initiatives from the Polish government (on a potential peacekeeping mission - ed.) are useful because Poland is a member of NATO and can promote them within the Alliance. But we have one caveat to any initiatives voiced by any country: these initiatives should not freeze the conflict. On 24 February, more territory of Ukraine became temporarily occupied. Our position is based on the principle that Russia should return to the positions it held on February 23. Accordingly, no initiative that will fix the status quo is in Ukraine's interests," – said he.

Kuleba added that during his visit to Poland, he discussed in detail the idea of a peacekeeping mission with the country’s Deputy Prime Minister Jaroslaw Kaczynski and became convinced that the latter had a complete understanding of the Ukrainian position and sincerely wanted to help.

"Now, there are no doubts or misunderstandings with regard to such a mission – we are synchronised and will be grateful to Poland for any new initiatives that we discuss and that they will be able to promote," – added the Minister.
