Russian tank spotted inside Exclusion Zone moving towards Chornobyl

On the morning of 1 April, inside the Exclusion Zone, a Russian tank was observed moving towards the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant.

Quote: "At 7 am on 1 April, on the territory of the Exclusion Zone, adjacent to the "Ostriv"administrative buildings, movement of one item of enemy equipment was observed, specifically a tank, moving towards the town of Chornobyl."

Details: According to reports, the radiation levels at the NPP remain unchanged.

The parameters of the equipment to be controlled are within the limits required by the technological regulations. The staff, who have been on duty since March 20, are ensuring nuclear and radiation safety.

The State Enterprise referred to the fact that on March 31 at about 8 pm the Russian occupiers left the territory of the NPP. Access routes to the industrial site were taken under the control of the plant’s staff.

Background: 

• On 31 March, Energoatom reported that Russian troops were planning to leave the Chornobyl NPP and its satellite town of Slavutych.
• The Russians occupied the NPP on the first day of the full-scale invasion, 24 February. Staff were taken hostage, with the Russians prohibiting the implementation of scheduled rotations. Staff exhaustion threatened the safety of the inactive NPP.
• The Russian occupiers kicked up radioactive dust while moving through the Red Forest without protection.
• Energoatom warned that Russian troops have been subject to internal and external irradiation within the Chornobyl Exclusion Zone.
